American Eagle Type 1 Gold Coin
1 oz Gold • Random Year
Drag to turn the coin
The American Gold Eagle has been issued by the United States Mint since 1986. Each 1 oz coin holds one troy ounce of gold in a 22 karat (.9167 fine) alloy, so the whole coin weighs a little more, 33.93 g. “Type 1” is the name collectors and dealers use for American Gold Eagles with the original family-of-eagles reverse, struck from 1986 into 2021, with Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ walking Liberty on the other side. The U.S. Mint introduced a new eagle-head reverse in 2021, which dealers call “Type 2”; both designs were struck in 2021. Legal tender in the United States with a face value of $50. Year varies by availability.
